What's in your mix?

Since late July, when you ladies introduced me to African black soap, I've been on a "get back to your roots" beauty challenge; if the ancestors didn't use it, neither do I. I use unrefined shea butter for my curls and skin and my appearance has improved greatly because of it. However, the only product I have not yet replaced is my facial moisturizer.. Do you ladies use it as a facial moisturizer as well? If so, do you use it every day?

I incorporated Shea Butter into my skin regimen for about 3 months and I developed some blotchiness (I don't know if that's a word, lol) around my chin area. I developed "light spots". I mixed it into my usual facial moisturizer (Clinique Dramatically Different), but sometimes I would use the shea butter by itself. I noticed the discoloration around months two but just figured it was due to stress and then it began to get worse. So, I stopped adding the Shea about two weeks ago and the blotchiness is going away. My skin is becoming more even.

I have combination skin and the discoloration occurred in my dry areas. Weird. So, I would suggest occasional use. I still LOVE Shea Butter thou. Like you, I use it on my hair and body, often mixing it with other ingredients to make my own special products :)

My skin has gotten so sensitive to just about everything artificial that yes I put a small amount of straight shea butter on my face when I get out of the shower or bath daily....no problems...my skin is warm so it melts onto/into my skin...
